A journey through Faena's treasured wine collections in Miami and Buenos Aires

“Wine is bottled poetry,” the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson once penned. At Faena, wine-making is a celebrated art form that guests can fully appreciate by sampling our exclusive range of private label Malbec wines produced in Mendoza, Argentina.

Wine is an expression of the country’s heritage and culture that Faena honors through an extensive wine list representing regions as far north as Salta to the southern reaches of Patagonia. “We feel we’re ambassadors of Argentine wine, and we seek to showcase the full breadth of our terroir,” said Faena Hotel Buenos Aires’ Head Sommelier, Valeria Mortara. “We choose bottles with tradition and history, as well as limited productions from small-batch producers.” At Faena Hotel Miami Beach, Lead Sommelier, Timothy Bubar also focuses on high quality, small production wines, no matter the price, which explains how the hotel built one of the most impressive wine collections in the entire state of Florida featuring rare vintages from Argentina, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and California.

The wine menu at Francis Mallmann’s Los Fuegos focuses heavily on South American wines that pair well with luscious grilled fare, while Pao by Paul Qui offers an abbreviated list of ‘Sommelier Selections’ that are more unexpected. Then there’s La Cava, Faena Hotel Miami Beach’s private wine cellar and collector’s dream with first-growth and single-vineyard jewels from top producers around the world. “We’re also seeing a trend towards natural wines free of sulfites or additional winemaking interventions,” Bubar said. “We’re looking into offering more of this type of wine.”
