Alfa Romeo Faena Park
Not your average garage, the OMA-designed Alfa Romeo Faena Park is a sophisticated take on the modern parking structure.
Situated between the newly-opened Faena Bazaar and historic Casa Faena hotel, Alfa Romeo Faena Park is a state-of-the-art parking structure in the Faena District designed by OMA, a leading architecture studio founded by Pritzker Prize winning architect Rem Koolhaas.
The 28,000-squarefoot auto park is famous for its unique perforated design paired with a mechanical system for maximum efficiency. A precast concrete façade with circular openings cleverly supports natural ventilation while subtlety reflecting the color of cars parked within.
An exposed glass shaft way visible from the corner of Collins Avenue and 35th Street reveals the vehicular and passenger movement within the building’s structure. An amazing robotic car elevator installs and retrieves cars from double-stacked shelves, accommodating a total of 81 cars above ground. According to The Economist, the ground-floor showroom and penthouse event space overlooking the Atlantic Ocean “enable art and commerce to exist side by side.”
Guests can expect a number of immersive experiences from the two brands throughout the year including a limited-time Alfa Romeo studio complete with brand specialists standing by to share the Italian automaker’s rich history while showcasing the latest models available for purchase.
