In a monumental series of murals for Faena New York, Juan Gatti masterfully intertwines the city’s iconic landmarks, Art Deco elegance, and Faena’s iconic symbols into a shimmering églomisé masterpiece.
New York becomes Juan Gatti’s latest canvas in a monumental, site-specific mural for The Living Room at Faena New York, created in collaboration with Faena. Iconic city landmarks meet art deco motifs emblematic of its architecture, intertwined with signature Faena elements, such as the prowling panther, a guardian of mystery and power, and layered with hidden symbols that invite discovery.
Celebrated for the tropicalia-inspired, floral murals that adorn the Cathedral at Faena Miami Beach, Gatti now turns his unmistakable lens to a new urban landscape. Crafted using the églomisé techinique of hand applied gold, silver, and brass leaf to the reverse side of glass, these finished guilded mirrors radiate grandeur, offering a rich layered vision of New York both galmorous and symbolic.
Juan Gatti is a designer, photographer, and art director known for his influential work in graphic design, particularly in the fields of fashion, advertising, and film. Born in Buenos Aires, he began his career in Argentina before moving to Spain, where he became a key figure in the visual identity of the Movida Madrileña, collaborating with renowned artists and filmmakers.
Gatti has worked extensively in the fashion industry, creating iconic campaigns for luxury brands and publications.
He is also known for his long-standing collaboration with director Pedro Almodóvar, designing memorable film posters and title sequences that have become synonymous with Almodóvar’s
cinematic style. His artistic work blends elements of classical painting, scientific illustration, and surrealism, often featuring intricate botanical compositions and striking typographic de-
signs.
Over the years, Gatti has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to visual culture. His legacy continues to influence contemporary design and art worldwide.
