Dualities in Gold and Ruby - Cynthia Cohen
In a new series of works by Cythia Cohen, Suspended Universes appeals to our curiosity, intuition and a sense of playfulness.
Cynthia Cohen’s four captivating works explore themes of duality and connection through distinct but intertwined elements. Día and Noche are richly detailed compositions adorned with gleaming golden jewelry, capturing the shifting moods of light and shadow.
In these pieces, gold serves as both material and metaphor, transforming precious objects into luminous narratives of day and night. In contrast, Mar and Tierra depict vivid red rubies seemingly floating within ethereal landscapes, evoking the dynamic tension and harmony between sea and earth.
The fiery gems symbolize the vitality of the land and the depth of the ocean, inviting viewers into a meditative space where color, texture, and symbolism converge. Together, these four works form the series of Suspended Universes, with references to Surrealism, Cohen weaves a poetic exploration of nature’s cycles and the interplay of light, matter and emotion.
