Faena Bazaar

The Lady & The Sailor

It all starts with the essentials. That’s what inspired designer Brittany Correy over a decade ago to launch The Lady & The Sailor based on her philosophy that “good basics are the foundation to creating beautifully uncomplicated style.” Carefully and consciously produced using the highest quality textiles in the United States, Correy’s collections, which she describes as “ feminine with a nod to boy,” offer unfussy staples like scooped tanks, linen tees, cotton tunics and lightweight drawstring dresses. Inspired by her own insatiable taste for travel, culture, and all things timeless, her effortlessly elegant clothes are crafted for a well-lived life. As comfortable as they are versatile, her T-shirts can rise to any occasion from a casual beachside brunch to a night of cocktails, when paired with killer stilettos.

Pedro García

Over in Spain, Mila and Pedro García are carrying on a three-generation family business crafting beautiful luxury footwear made by highly-skilled artisans in Elda, Alicante. Always looking to take their designs one step further, the Garcías continually experiment and merge opposing concepts to “spawn new, hybrid silhouettes.” One of their earliest out-of-the-box pursuits was to decorate flat sandals with Swarovski micropavé crystals which, over time, became a hallmark in the brand’s permanent collection. They also created anatomical
soles for high heels, developed rough-hewn finishes on vegetable tanned leather to establish a style of uncooked glamour, and introduced frayed satin, all of which have become trademarks of the iconic Spanish label.

Picks of the month: Love Binetti

The latest collection from New York based Argentine fashion designer, Diego Binetti, is inspired by a cadre of female muses whose singular style and independent spirit transformed them into celebrated icons.

Binetti’s eponymous label, LOVE Binetti, caters to the free-spirited modern woman with a city-slicker edge. His spring/summer ’19 collection, “Sisters of the Moon,” showcasing tiered flowing dresses, romantic puff and poet sleeves, baby-doll empire cuts, and hand embroidered motifs, pays homage to empowered women in the worlds of music, fashion and art with designs that represent femininity defined by diversity and strength. You’ll find hints of Stevie Nicks’ gypsy-meets-rocker bravura, artisanal embroidery and long cotton dresses inspired by Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keeffe, and a trace of retro-European sophistication as a tribute to Italian doyenne Marella Agnelli. Must-have souk-inspired accessories include hand-beaded and tasseled hobos, hand-loomed totes and a circular top-handle bag with multi-colored raffia.

Where Fire and Flavor Ignite

"What makes Los Fuegos truly extraordinary is our commitment to the ancient art of cooking with fire,” explained Yassine Belkady, the restaurant’s manager. “We use no electricity whatsoever—just fire, wood ovens, and tradition” Everything has that distinctive char, those bold, nearly burnt flavors that taste almost primal. “When you dine here, you can literally smell the wood and rosemary in the air,” he added. The restaurant’s setting matches its culinary panache. By day, the veranda transforms into an airy ambience when its retractable roof opens to Miami’s brilliant skies. Guests enjoy lunch while overlooking the property’s stunning pool, creating what Belkady called “a completely different experience than any other hotel or restaurant in Miami.”

Beneath the Tree of Life

Mornings here unfold slowly while guests sip on fresh-pressed juices—like the South Beach, a tropical elixir of coconut water, local citrus, mango, and strawberry, or a vitamin-rich Green Juice packed with spinach, kale, ginger, cucumber, celery and green apple. “The tranquility makes it really special,” noted Joshua Rodriguez, Director of Nightlife. “It’s a place where guests can grab a coffee, a light bite and relax or catch up on some emails.” A menu of delicious appetizers is great for snacking throughout the day, including crispy artichokes with sesame yogurt and sourdough breadcrumbs; prime rib empanadas with llajua sauce; and a vegan option of steamed veggie rice with sweet potato and broccoli. Come golden hour, the energy shifts. On weekends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, resident DJs set the mood as the bar transitions into a laidback sundowner haunt. The CopaCabana cocktail, a tropical indulgence of banana and apricot liqueur, coconut cream, allspice, and Bulleit Rye, is a guest favorite. “People order it because it’s served in a Faena-branded coconut, but it’s the taste that makes them request another one,” said Rodriguez.
