Faena Jazz Series: OKAN Music Performance & Album Release Party
Faena Theater welcomes OKAN, the radiant Afro-Cuban Music Performance duo.
OKAN is a two-time Juno Award-winning Afro-Cuban duo whose name, meaning “heart” in the Afro-Cuban Lukumí tradition, reflects the spirit at the center of their sound. Blending deep Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk, classical, and global rhythms, along with an evolving electronic sound inspired by Afro-house and contemporary Latin music, their songs explore themes of identity, migration, courage, and love with vibrant rhythm and emotional depth.
Founded by Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated songwriters Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne, both Cuban-born, the duo honors musical tradition while boldly reimagining it through virtuosic performance. Known for their powerful musicianship and dynamic live shows, OKAN has been featured on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk, toured with Rodrigo y Gabriela, and performed at The Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center. They have also collaborated with artists including Bomba Estéreo, Lido Pimienta, Daymé Arocena, Zapapaya, and KARABA.
Ahead of the release of their fourth studio album, IFE ARA, on Lulaworld Records in November 2026, OKAN delivers a moving musical experience filled with heart, soul, and cultural brilliance.
