Faena Jazz Series with Okan and special guest, Daymé Arocena
Faena Live is thrilled to welcome the return of the annual Faena Jazz Series in its EIGHTH year.
OKAN is a dynamic musical duo whose name — meaning “heart” or “soul” in the Afro-Cuban Lukumí tradition — reflects the spirit at the center of their sound. Blending Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk, and classical influences, their music explores themes of identity, migration, courage, and love with vibrant rhythm and emotional depth.
Founded by Cuban-born artists Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne, the ensemble honors musical tradition while boldly reimagining it through virtuosic performance and global influences. Their powerful artistry and joyful energy celebrate heritage, resilience, and the evolving voice of the Cuban diaspora.
With rich rhythms and boundless expression, OKAN delivers a moving musical experience filled with heart, soul, and cultural brilliance.
Daymé Arocena is an internationally acclaimed, Latin Grammy-nominated Cuban singer, composer, and choir director whose music draws from Afro-Cuban traditions, jazz, soul, and contemporary global influences. Born and raised in Havana, Arocena first gained international attention through her powerful vocal style and deep connection to the musical and spiritual traditions of Cuba. Her recordings and performances have earned worldwide recognition, leading to appearances on NPR's Tiny Desk and at major festivals and concert venues throughout North America, Europe, and Latin America.
