Faena Live continues the ninth annual Faena Jazz Series with an unforgettable evening of Latin jazz featuring legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa and Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning Cuban vocalist Aymée Nuviola.
One of the world’s most celebrated percussionists, Sammy Figueroa has spent decades at the forefront of jazz and Latin music, performing and recording alongside icons including Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, David Bowie, Mariah Carey and the Brecker Brothers. A multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominee, Figueroa brings his virtuosic, deeply expressive style to Faena Theater for an evening rooted in rhythm, improvisation and musical storytelling.
Joining him is Aymée Nuviola, the acclaimed Cuban singer, pianist and composer known as “La Sonera del Mundo.” Drawing from Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, bolero, bossa nova and salsa, Nuviola has developed a sound that is at once sophisticated, soulful and unmistakably her own. Her celebrated career has earned her three Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, with performances spanning Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, Ronnie Scott’s and stages around the world.
Together, Figueroa and Nuviola bring the spirit of Latin jazz to Faena Theater in a vibrant meeting of rhythm and voice, honoring the music’s rich traditions while embracing the freedom and spontaneity of jazz.
